Street Chalk Mural
For the third year in a row, Kendall Laurent will be leading our Community Chalk Mural. This year’s “Sunflower Garden” temporary community chalk mural will be created with the help of the Richfield community and, in its creation, will help us remember that love grows as we care for one another. Sunflowers are a symbol of strength, resilience, and happiness. As the day goes on, they turn to face the sun as it moves across the sky.Kendall will layout the template, an evetn guests will be invited to color in sections.

Dr. Street Magic Show
Dr. Street will set up in the middle of the open street, where magic and charisma come right out in front of the crowd. His Sleight of Hand has amazed and amused all walks of life from 3 to 103 and has been mystifying audiences WorldWide with multiple tours in Europe, India, Australia and 23 other countries. This year, the Art Zone at PennFest has the honor of showering the streets in dazzling magic with three 30 minute shows; 12:30pm, 2pm, and 3:30pm.
The Hot Art Bus

The HOT ART BUS transforms art into a live, on-the-street experience—part interactive studio, part community gathering space, and part creative surprise. Peen Fest guests are invited to make something meaningful right there in the moment. Whether someone joins for a few minutes or stays longer to explore, the experience is designed to spark curiosity, conversation, and joy. It gives families, neighbors, and passersby a chance to participate in art rather than simply observe it.

Live Wood Blocking
Betsy Hsiaio is a woodcut printmaker in Minneapolis, inspired by a deep love of the prairie, the wetlands, the lakes, and woods of Minnesota along with the wildlife that call it home. Through her work, she invites the viewer to consider how much we have to cherish and protect. Learn with Betsy about the process of carving an image into a wood block, layering colors of inks and printing them onto a really nice piece of paper. You get to bring home a little piece of PennFest, Betsy's artwork, and your own masterpiece all in one.

Children's Book Author
Nancy Carlson
Nancy Carlson is an accomplished children’s book author and illustrator who has published more than 60 books. She is one of the few people who knew even back in kindergarten what she wanted to do for a living: “Make pictures and tell stories!”
Nancy is a life-long Minnesotan. Born and raised in Edina, Minnesota, Nancy had a happy and fulfilling childhood surrounded by an outgoing family. Her parents read to her and her brother and sister every night. The comic books she loved to read as a child have influenced her style of drawing and use of color. Many of Nancy’s stories are taken from her own childhood experiences.
